What are some used cars, unmodified, that offer the best performance for money? Anything from the early ’90s to the present. So far I think an early ’90s Dodge Stealth R/T Turbo or the Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 offer the most performance for the dollar. ~5.5 seconds 0-60, AWD, AWS, adjustable traction control, twin turbos, reasonabley reliable, for around $4000. Any other suggestions??

Hello Again asked:
I mean all together. I know most say that cars vary too much to get an absolute answer, but even an average specific to a model would be fine. Or just what was your experience when shopping for a used car in the early 80s.

A lot of dealerships, especially used cars, when they sell you a car you only get one key. And I hear comments like: “since this is used car, we only get one key…” It happened to me many times and I had to cut another one just in case. (~$100 plus programming at the dealer) Do used car dealers intentionally throw away extra keys, for whatever reason? Or is this because when previous owner traded in or sold the car, they drove with only one key?

I will soon be in need of a good used car. Nothing fancy. My current car has 175000 miles and I will soon need a better used car. I’m looking to hopefully spend $6500 or less. Any suggestions?? Thanks!

I’m currently in the market for a used car and I’ve seen a couple that look like fair deals, but they list that they have rebuilt engines. I was wondering if that could be a red-flag for anything, for instance the mileage that they advertise is simply the mileage “for that engine” etc.
